some new pages finished

This picture makes me grin too!
This is a leftover page, some stencils and some items from a vintage geography book. The big dog is a piece of junk mail. That's the only kind of junk mail I like!
Some more stamping( some I carved), stencils, another picture from the geography book, and some punchnella to look a little like snow.
And this is how my calendar pages turned out:
The big ? means I waited too long to write what I did that day... This was a fun project, but since this was part of my art journal, it stayed out in my art area (aka "studio") and I wasn't as faithful to write in it as I would have been if it had been inside my house.
I hope you all are having a great week! I hope to have more pages to show tomorrow.

More pages

This is a definite redo! I first sprayed first through a stencil and it was UGLY!! So after it dried I started using the same stencil but with paint and I like it a lot better. This image came in some junk mail and I thought it was so funny!
Doesn't she look like she's having a blast?! Hee hee!
This is another page in progress and another redo- sometimes I can't see to reproduce the ideas I have in my head :(
This is also a page in progress. I scraped some paint through a punchnella stencil and it gave a cool raised up look the reminded me of fish scales. So I drew a fish around them and used a paint dabber to paint it in.
One thing about scraping paint through stencils: if the stencil has any small holes, you need to clean your stencil after you finish since it will plug those up. That's it for this week- have a wonderful weekend!

Recent pages

This page I repainted probaby 4 times! I just din't like it. It's hard to see but underneath it all I scraped paint through a stencil, which made a cool raised up image. When it dried, I scraped a green color and the sprayed and dripped some colorwash. Yuck! Then I glued on some scraps of paper- still didn't like the colors. So I scraped the whole thing with turquoise- better. I still did not like the drips. So I did some punchnella over it and tried out a new stamp I carved. I'm liking the page now, but haven't decide if I'm done yet.
I started this page with a technique I saw on a blog that encourages doing art with kids(sorry, I can't remember where...) First you put down painters tape in the rough shape of a tree, then paint over the whole page. After it's dry you take off the tape and you then have a white tree! Worked pretty cool! I'm not finished yet, but I added some sponge marks for wonky blossoms as a start.
It's amazing what you can get done even in  little bits of time throughout the day. Hope you all have a great day!

Doodling and a new page

I just added some doodles to this page.
I added some leftover bits and put a magazine image I've been saving. Guess I'm thinking of spring :)
I do love the snow for this time of year though- it's so beautiful and clean looking.
Have a great Monday!

Carved stamps, a journal page and "leftover" tags

Here are the letters I've carved so far. I like the little extra lines so I left them rather than carving them all the way off. It reminds me of wood block carvings. I'm using those big pink erasers- I cut them in half and then carve a letter on each side.
This is a page I used them on:
I think I need a new ink pad...They're very fun to make!
This is what they look like before I carve the extra off- I may  make another set doing them this way.
And these are some tags I did with leftover paint and such as I'm working on my journal pages:
Have a great weekend!

Another Page!

Lots of fun for me - I did some doodling with my paint markers that I hadn't really used before- fun!
I've also started leaving tags near my work area and putting leftover paint, etc on the to add to my pages or even use on future gifts. Here's one:
I'm not sure if I've finished this page- I may do some doodling...
Something else I've done is carving some letter stamps from those big erasers I got last year- I'll try to show them later this week. Have  a great Wednesday!

Some more cards and a journal page

Wow! 2 days in a row for me to blog-lol! Here is another journal page I've worked on:
Just doodling and paint and leftover waxed papers.
And here are a couple of cards I made yesterday:

I'm halfway done with my order, so more to work on today- have a terrific Tuesday!

art card

I have an order for some cards so I decided to try some art ones too. Here's one for today:
I actually painted a whole piece of card stock and then cut it in 4 pieces. So I will have 4 cards each similar, but different! I feel so good having accomplished something today!

Anew page

This page was done in layers, but in a different order than usual. I put the butterfly stickers on the plain white page, then scraped it with orange. The butterflies are from the dollar store and are wall decor, so they are made of plastic. Then Istenciled the zinnia pattern and added a little green. When that was all dry I scraped the whole thing with white and let that dry. I was just having lots of fun adding layers!
Lastly I added the images and stenciled with red. What a crazy page huh?!

That's what art should be...FUN! Have a great week!

recent pages

Here's how my January calendar pages are looking. I have found that trying to write over the glitter paint doesn't work too well... Maybe next time I'll put it on after!

Fun page- Have a great weekend!

Here are a couple of new pages
I really like the birdie sticker!

I tried using a stamp I got in a swap- I don't really know what it is supposed to be, but it reminded me of a cage. So I just did some experimenting with it. Not my favorite page, but nice to be able to do some art. Have a great week!

Recent journal pages

Sorry I haven't been blogging  much lately. My hubby is unemployed and has been using the computer a lot for job searches, etc. Plus I'm having some back problems that make it so I can't do as much art as I'd like. Sooo, even though I can't blog as much as I'd like, I am still checking on you all and I AM doing art, just not as quickly. I'll still try to post at least once a week.
The page above is scraped with paint, stenciled with punchnella, a bird and a snowflake, which is leftover from when I punched snowflakes for my calendar pages. The New Year makes you think of changes you'd like to see in your life, and that's what this page is for me. Thinking more positively and thinking of others more highly than myself.
This page is scraped with acrylic over some leftover spray, stenciled and I like the image and the bird! The flowers at the top are K&Company. Here's a little closer
Hope you all had a great week!
