New page

I've been very busy working on sewing for my granddaughter- some spring/summer clothes for school. So my art is a bit slower than usual... I AM working on a mixed media painting and some more art cards at the same time as my journal so I guess that counts!
This my most recent page- I still have Spring on my mind, even though it's in the single digits. Soon...

I like to use lots of different ephemera, especially vintage photos.
Even though I don't post as much right now, I do visit your blogs and enjoy seeing what everyone is doing. Have a great week!

travel page

On this page I started with gluing down all kinds of maps, bits of paper with other languages on it, etc; just gluing down randomly. When it was dry I scraped paint, stenciled and stamped on top. Then I decided to do a travel page. Not that I've traveled much myself, but I'd like to someday.
I don't usually know what I'm going to do on a page when I start- I just pick some colors of paint and start playing. Sometimes I want to try a new technique, sometimes I just want to moosh paint all around and see what happens. Just working in my art journal soothes me and I'm thankful to be able to do that.
Have a great week!

New pages

Okay- I finally got a few pages done.
This one is okay, but I'm not super happy with it. I tried out some fabric paint pens and did NOT like them- they made a mess! Otherwise I practiced some lettering and made a cloud stencil. Not all pages will we love, but the painting is fun!
This one is definitely leftovers. The girl in the middle is leftover ink from a great stencil. In the daisy at the top I tried some oil pastels- I might do some more on the other daisy later.

This page was fun! The white was a toilet paper tube dipped in paint. I like to try lots of different things (as you probably have guessed by now). The hardest part for me is the journaling or the title. But this one just looked like enjoying life! Have a great week!

WIPs

Sorry I haven't been posting this week- I'm battling a cold and am just barely keeping up with the day to day. But here are a couple of things I finished:
This is a watercolor background done as part of Traci's class at Strathmore. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I like how it turned out. I did a few extra things like blowing on the darker drops of color to make the spidery lines. The flower shape is a silk flower that I sprayed color wash over. This is about the only art I've done this week, but I HAVE been sewing, knitting and crocheting. I know quite a few people having babies soon so I'm busy making gifts. Here's a bib I fininshed:
Cute, huh? It does have a mouth, but it doesn't show up too well in the pic.
Hopefully I'll have more to share next week. Have a great weekend!

recent page

Still steadily working away on my art journal pages- here's a new one:
More leftover fun! Also some journaling and then covered with paint. I like that white sunburst behind her head- that wasn't planned. I didn't even see it until I looked at the photo! Fun surprises :)
I stamped this on a piece of tissue leftover from a sewing pattern and some painty waxed paper at the top. I really like using leftover scraps in my pieces.
Have a great weekend!

Doodle class page

I'm taking a free class over at Strathmore from Traci Bautista and it's been very interesting. Here's my page:
Pretty wild huh? I really like it actually. Here's some closer looks:

We used A LOT of different supplies; many I'd never really used before like oil pastels and india ink. I really liked the india ink! I didn't have a pen, just some ink so I used a turkey feather quill! How funny is that?! The very soft, "furry" areas is the oil pastels. The white is a wite out pen- still trying to figure out how to use those... Another cool thing for me is my dad was an art teacher/artist and he passed away afew years ago. In this class I'm getting to use many of his art supplies! He never taught us kids any art so I've learned on my own from blogs and books, but I think of him whenever I do my art. So this page has multiple layers of paint etc and NO collage!  This was something new for me and I had a lot of fun doing it. You all should check out this class at Strathmore online-- it's free!

recent pages

This is my experiment of doodling. I think I need to practice more... I was also tring out my new paint dabber- that's how I made the hearts before doodling. The paint doesn't flow like I thought it would, but I'll keep trying.
This is a leftover page that I liked so much I didn't cover it with paint! I haven't done a white page for a long time, but I kind of like it. I also used some of my cool tape around the picture and of course punchnella! Ilove using that! I liked the sunburst image too, especially since it's been sunny here lately.
I'm not sure how much art I will get done this week because I am exhausted! My hubby started a new job and he works nights- now you may be wondering why that would affect me. Well....I have a tendency to ummm...be overly concerned?...okay,worry. So I wake up often and need to make sure he made it home okay, etc. Once he gets regulated with the sleep pattern I'll feel better!
So until I have more pages to show-Have a great week!

Love using stencils!

I've been trying out some of my new stencils- they are so fun!
This is my tree page I made with tape- I LOVE birds and these bird cages are so neat!
This page isn't finished, but I had to try the number stencil.
I love this one too! Since I have such fun using stencils, you know what that means? In the near future I'm going to have to try making my own!
Have a blessed weekend!

Goodies!

Look what I got in the mail:

What fun! I can't wait to try them out! I got a gift card to JoAnns and used it online to get the cool stencils and some distress stain and a paint dabber. Now here is a  new page:
This is a leftover page- then I scraped purple on and let it dry. After a hard day I wrote some journaling and then stenciled over it. I also glued down some different types of paper randomly on the page.  I then stamped the words "be calm in the midst of the storm" on a piece of leftover paper from a vintage book and used distress ink around the edges. I thought the little girl looked very calm in the midst of a chaotic page. Kind of a weird page for me, but I like it.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
