Finished and started

Here is scrappy pillow #2 finished
These were really fun projects! And using my scraps up is an added benefit. I will definitely be making more projects from that book.
Here is another quilt started:
These blocks are on my design board so I can check the layout. In our quilt guild we have block lotto each month. What is block lotto? Each month the gal in charge picks a quilt block design and puts it in our newsletter along with the colors it should be done in and the finished size. Then we are welcome to make as many of these blocks as we want and bring them to the guild meeting. There we turn in our blocks and put our name in the hat- one for every block we brought (1 block= 1 name, 5 blocks=5 names) Then she draws a name out and that person wins ALL the blocks!!! If there are 20 or more blocks turned in, she divides them and 2 people win. It's a great way to try new blocks. And last time I won!!! I'm going to donate this when it's finished to one of our charities our guild sponsors- the veteran's hospital. We make lap quilts for them.
I'm still slowly machine quilting some quilts that are finished and a few other sewing projects for birthdays coming up.So what are you working on this weekend?
Have a good one!

Thankful Thursday

We all have many things to be thankful for, don't you think?
I'm thankful for yummy raspberries from our garden.
And beautiful flowers of summer. This little flower bed makes me so happy, because I didn't plant any of these flowers! The seeds somehow came from other nearby pots last year and seeded themselves. I like to think God did it as a happy surprise for me :)

And I'm thankful for a happy surprise on my table the other morning. My hubby works nights and he thought of me and brought a rose which I found in the morning.
What are you thankful for today? Count your blessings!

WIP Wednesday

I'm still working on this pillow top for my son.
It is now all quilted and the back is ready to be sewn. I was going to work on it yesterday, but I locked my keys in my studio and had to wait until my hubby got back from fishing to get in!!! Arghh... Oh well, my arm was pretty sore from PT anyway so I guess the rest was good.
I've been using basting spray on my small quilts instead of pins and I really like it.
Anybody else use basting spray for your quilts? If so, what kind do you use and have you used it on large quilt with success? I was hoping this would be a finished project by now... maybe today.
Have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

Here are a few things I am thankful for:
Daisies are one of my favorite summer flowers.
My sewing machine!

And my sweet hubby, whose birthday is tomorrow! We celebrated it on Tuesday since we could get everyone together that day. What are you thankful for today?
Now I'm heading out to our town's sidewalk sales- who knows what treasures I'll find?!

Pillow #1 finished #2 started

Here is a picture of pillow 1
And here is the beginning of pillow 2
I still have a ways to go on the top, then the quilting etc. I was hoping to get it finished by tomorrow. My son is coming up for my hubby's birthday and I will give him #1- I'll give him #2 later. Sewing is slow going with my hurt shoulder... sigh. I hope this PT will help soon!
Have a great new week!

Finished quilt journal and a sweetie

I finally finished my quilt journal. It took me a while to find the words I wanted to put on the front.
And this is how it looks on the inside:
A picture of the quilt on one page
and then the information I want to remember on the next. Sometimes I add fabric swatches or a diagram of how I quilted it. I'm still working on filling out all the cards, but I like it. I just wish I'd taken pictures of ALL the quilts I've made over the years and given away. It is encouraging to see the progress you make as you learn something.
Now here is my sweet granddaughter in a new summer outfit I made her.
Isn't she cute?! She's growing up so fast...
Well I started my physical therapy on my shoulder and thankfully they don't think the rotator cuff is torn, just inflamed. And it's already feeling better! So I'm heading to my studio today to get sewing- have a great weekend!

What do you get?

So what do you get when you buy this cool book
Find this pillow at a thrift store
and your son just bought a house and has very little furniture?
You make him a new floor pillow cover from scraps!
I machine quilted it and still have to put the pieces on the back- it was sooo fun! I love that book and have many more projects to try. The machine quilting on this was part of my therapy of course ( see previous post) so that means I worked on it for 5- 10 min a day is all. But at least I can still do it!
Have a great Independance Day!
