Spring

I love the color green! (along with all the other colors of the rainbow..) One of the things I love about Spring is all the green everywhere you look. I've always wanted to go to Ireland for that reason.
I still have some daffodils left- the rain ruined my yellow ones, but these are still pretty.
And here is an art quilt I made:
It is small and I machine quilted the wavy lines. I think I need to use some heavy interfacing inside next time so it will hang better. I used beads for the eyes- I love the batik fabric. I'm learning more each day!

Where have I been and what I've been working on

I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I've blogged! We're having A LOT of family struggles lately so I've really only had time to read other peoples blogs and not post myself. Here is what I've been working on lately:
Quilts! I'm trying to teach myself to machine quilt and it has been an interesting endeavor. This one you can see the barrettes at the bottom while the binding is getting sewn on. I have another larger quilt I machine quilted, but need to take a picture still. Here is a quilt top that is waiting for the last
border- I'm still deciding what color to use.
This was a mystery we did through our guild- a lot of fun and I really like how it is turning out. Almost all the fabric is batiks, which I LOVE!!!  So my art for the next while will be with fabric instead of paint. I really think I need a break from it because everything was starting to look the same- time to mix it up a bit. Who knows maybe I'll combine the 2 sometime!
We are enjoying some warm weather here and beautiful flowers. We've also had a lot of rain so everything is green. I hope you all are enjoying the change in seasons and have a good weekend!

Relax....

I found this crazy image in a magazine- makes me thankful I have naturally curly hair! This is how they did perms in 1942- anyone want to try it?

This is a leftover page as always with acrylic paint scraped over it. Then I added some extra stenciling and the images. I wrote "relax" with a Sakura pigma pen with a brush tip. It writes really nice and I'm not sure where it came from... One of the things I like about art journaling is that you can use whatever you want; paint, pens, stencils, magazine images, etc. Most of the pages I do are humorous, at least to me. I need more laughter in my life so this is a way I try to do that. You can see my little troll friend in the top picture. It is too cold for her to be without clothing so I wrapped her in some fabric scraps- she feels much more comfortable now. I have lots of little things like that all around my house- I especially love gnomes! They remind me of my Dad- no he wasn't a gnome, but he used to tell stories  when we'd go for hikes in the woods and encourage us to look for them- good memories.
Have a great weekend!

Easter cuties

These are my sweet grandkiddies- BreeAnn, Kenny, and Connor. We had a lovely Easter. The dress she's wearing is one of the projects I've been working on- she loved it. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

pages few and far between

I haven't been able to do much art lately- art with paint and in my journal that is. But here are a couple of pages I finished today.
 These are fanciful fishes.
The image is from a reminese (?) magazine. My husband was very jealous of this man's fish!!
This one I had a ton of fun with the background! And the picture is so cute!
I did get my granddaughter's Easter dress finished and will try to post a picture of her wearing it.
Have a blessed Easter weekend!
