More flip-flap pgs and an apron

Here are some more pages in my flip-flap

It's okay but I don't love it. I might add some more color...

The lady is a postcard my daughter got for me at an antique store. She wouldn't stay flat with glue so I used electrical tape to attach the pic.
The baby and bird is a pic from Graphic Fairy- she has tons of free images and I love most of them!
This is the apron I finished for a bridal shower gift- I think it counts as art too!
Tomorrow is yard saling- wonder what treasures I'll find?!

Day 21

This what I worked on yesterday- gessoing. This is for a free class over at LK Ludwig's blog on making a journal with paint brochures. She's even going to show how to sew them together. Looking forward to that.
And this is what I found at a yard sale- so excited!!!
I don't know if you can see the price- $3.00!

something new

These are a couple of pgs from a journal I made my daughter for her birthday. She loves to write and hope to be published someday, so I got her a journal with lined pgs and then glued a few together so I could do collage.
I tried to use pics and words that would encourage her in her writing- she really likes it.

last pages of this journal

These are the last few pages of this art journal. I've already started on the next one :)
Monday I'll post the cover which turned out very cool. Have a great weekend!
I'm off to the sidewalk sales and maybe hitting a few yard sales-FUN!

Friday, July 15, 2011

I used a map of London from a travel book I got at a used book sale. The flowers are a stencil from Walmart.

Here's a detail of the fl;owers- I used some glitter glue I got from Michaels for $1. I try to use what I have and I can't afford the expensive stuff. It still is a lot of fun!
Only a few more pages to go. I finished the covers today, and they're drying- then I'll take pictures.

almost finished! with THIS journal that is...

Her's a couple more pgs
Ilove to add vintage images- the more whimsical the better!
On this one I did a rubber cement resist- maybe I'll do a tutorial on it sometime.
I had a lot of fun using these stencils- I got a whole stack of them for 50 cents!!
The bingo card sticker is from  Tim Holtz.
More pages coming :)

still working on them...

I'm trying to use some colors I don't normally choose. On this page I put dots of brown, red and a gold shimmer and scraped in on the pg. Not sure if you can see the shimmer, but it looks neat. Scraping paint with a credit card is my fav way to begin a page- very easy and neat texture.

day 8 art jounaling

This one I used gesso and a line stencil to create area to write on.
I'm using charcoal to add shadow around the edges and I really like how it looks. On this yellow pg I used puffy white paint for the circles of the flowers, then used watercolors for the inside. Hard to see in the pic.

Day 2 and 4

I'm still working on these pages, but I've decided to work directly on the scrapbook paper instead of gessoing first. I mean the paper was just DRINKING that gesso! And I didn't notice much difference in the way the paint spread etc.
I'm hoping to make this an everyday journal with just fun pages in lots of colors and fun pictures.

Color

Don't you just LOVE colors?! I know I do- I'm so thankful God made our world full of different colors and shades of colors.
Just imagine if all the world was in black & white- I think I'd be very sad...
Wouldn't you? Colors make life interesting and I love to use lots of bright colors in my art.

I'm hoping to document and share my life, my art, and any other creative stuff along the way.
Art journaling has been a new creative venture for me and I'm really loving it! So many techniques to try and just having fun!!
