day 30

Some more pages- this is my last day of the 30days with Traci Bunker. I don't usually do art on Sunday.
It's kind of hard to see in this pic, but the verse is about counting God's blessings and on the music I wrote some of the blessings I'm thankful for.

This a little hard to see too, but there is a door on her mouth which is in the verse. I added the color on her dress with a watercolor crayon. I do love using vintage images especially old photos.
I hope you all have great weekend:) If you visit me, please leave a commnt- it's so encouraging! Thanks!

More flip-flap pgs and an apron

Here are some more pages in my flip-flap

It's okay but I don't love it. I might add some more color...

The lady is a postcard my daughter got for me at an antique store. She wouldn't stay flat with glue so I used electrical tape to attach the pic.
The baby and bird is a pic from Graphic Fairy- she has tons of free images and I love most of them!
This is the apron I finished for a bridal shower gift- I think it counts as art too!
Tomorrow is yard saling- wonder what treasures I'll find?!

day 27

More prep work to do now for the rest of the pages. And I think I'll need to clean up my studio soon so I can find anything!

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I am definitely enjoying the cooler weather- makes working in my studio pleasant :)
Here are a few of my flip-flap pgs with the Scriptures on them. I may add more goodies to them later.
On this one I had the honeycomb pic from a magazine, then I went to the graphics fairy and got the clip art for the bee- the verse is Prov. 16:24.

The verse is Matt. 10:29,31. The bird is from a mag from my mom and the stamps are some my hubby collected and didn't want anymore.

This is John 15:5- I do think I need to add some more, but I'm not sure what yet. If I did this over again, I would have picked the Scriptures before I started collaging so I could coordinate the two.
Day 26 complete!

working

Still working on flip flap journal- doing some prep work.

flip-flap journal pages

Progressing, but not as fast as before... Very interesting working with something like these paint brochures- it makes neat texture with the little squares under my paint. I'm just using acrylics scraped on with a credit card, gesso circles, star stencil with gesso, collage with maps and music. So far...I have ideas brewing...

Day 21

This what I worked on yesterday- gessoing. This is for a free class over at LK Ludwig's blog on making a journal with paint brochures. She's even going to show how to sew them together. Looking forward to that.
And this is what I found at a yard sale- so excited!!!
I don't know if you can see the price- $3.00!

knitting journal

This is a knitting journal I made for my sister (shhh it's for her b-day) I used a thrift store photo album and collaged pics about knitting on it.

Then I made collages on about 3 4x6 cards to put in the album.

Now I am making the journaling cards for her to record what she makes, for whom, what kind of yarn, etc. The rivets at the end of each card will be for a sample of the yarn she uses. I hope she likes it.
I think I'm going to make a fishing journal for my husband for Christmas- lots of ideas...

something new

These are a couple of pgs from a journal I made my daughter for her birthday. She loves to write and hope to be published someday, so I got her a journal with lined pgs and then glued a few together so I could do collage.
I tried to use pics and words that would encourage her in her writing- she really likes it.

Journal cover

On this cover I first spread glue, then put a piece of white tissue paper that had glitter in it on top and scrunched it around to create texture. I let that dry completely. Then I painted it brown thinking it would look leathery ( UGGGLY!!!) I added some ink drops- still didn't like it so I painted the whole thing in green which I love! After that dried I added some chipboard letters (K&Company) and some silk leaves I had lying around. After it was dry I put some gold glitter paint on the leaves. I really like the way it turned out.
All the pages are in the journal and I think I'll start writing in it soon. Maybe I'll show some of the pgs after there is writing. Have a great day! I'll have more to show tomorrow :)

last pages of this journal

These are the last few pages of this art journal. I've already started on the next one :)
Monday I'll post the cover which turned out very cool. Have a great weekend!
I'm off to the sidewalk sales and maybe hitting a few yard sales-FUN!

Friday, July 15, 2011

I used a map of London from a travel book I got at a used book sale. The flowers are a stencil from Walmart.

Here's a detail of the fl;owers- I used some glitter glue I got from Michaels for $1. I try to use what I have and I can't afford the expensive stuff. It still is a lot of fun!
Only a few more pages to go. I finished the covers today, and they're drying- then I'll take pictures.

Pages, pages=fun!

The tree  was made with black ink and a straw- a fun and interesting technique. The white is gesso for a journaling spot AND to cover up a stamp I tried that looked dumb... I'm working on the covers now- will be showing the rest of the pages tomorrow.

almost finished! with THIS journal that is...

Her's a couple more pgs
Ilove to add vintage images- the more whimsical the better!
On this one I did a rubber cement resist- maybe I'll do a tutorial on it sometime.
I had a lot of fun using these stencils- I got a whole stack of them for 50 cents!!
The bingo card sticker is from  Tim Holtz.
More pages coming :)

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Lots of fun- I think the hardest part has been putting picture up EVERY day. But it's a learning experience and that's good. I know the pages look blank but that's for me to write in later. I'm working on the last few pgs of the scrapbook!!!

More journal pages and some news!

This is my first attempt at carving my own stamp- so the black is the stamp and it wasn't exactly what I was planning but it came out okay. I used an eraser.
This one I did the background by rubbing a stamp pad over it lightly. Isn't the image funny?! I love it and I got that from the Graphic Fairy- I colored it in with chalks.
This background I did by painting it with watered down acrylic then using a baby wipe to make the white areas. The trees are die cuts from our local scapbook store.
NOW for the news-Geri of myheartart has started a new blog for artists- it's like a directory to find others who do different kinds of art.I'm excited to be a part of it! You can still join up too. It's artseebloggers.com
Go take a look!

still working on them...

I'm trying to use some colors I don't normally choose. On this page I put dots of brown, red and a gold shimmer and scraped in on the pg. Not sure if you can see the shimmer, but it looks neat. Scraping paint with a credit card is my fav way to begin a page- very easy and neat texture.
