First I'd like to thank everyone who leaves comments- they are sooo encouraging! Please keep doing so! :)
Now some more pgs-
This is the harlequin stencil by crafters workshop- I used acrylic paint on this.

On this one I used white acrylic paint instead of gesso with the stencil. I've also been using a makeup sponge for doing the stencil instead of a foam brush and I like it better.
Hope you all are enjoying making art today!

new journal pages

On this page I tried some new things- First I glued some pattern paper and some old paper towels that I had wiped paint with, down on the page and let dry. Then I scraped paint over it and let dry. Lastly I stenciled some different things on top. It turned out pretty cool and the texture feels interesting.
Hope you all had a great weekend- Happy Monday!

notebook fun

This is a regular composition notebook I got for 25 cents at Walmart. I needed something for taking notes at church so I decided to make it me.
I gessoed the cover first and let it dry. Then I started scraping on paint- the weird thing was when I scraped on the paint the gesso started to scrape off! So I ended up finger painting on the blue to cover up the blank spots- I ended up liking how it looks :)
The letters are stickers and the brackets are just a random stencil I have.
This is another page from the art journal I'm working on.
This page uses another crafters workshop stencil, tim holtz sticker and a random stamp. The image is actually me in kindergarten or 1st grade. I just copied the photo on my printer. Of course I had to put a flower in my hair :)
Well, it off to yard sale- have a great day!

Here's a couple more pgs
This is another stencil I got from the art goodes shop The image is from graphics fairy and the little word thing is from my goodies from Amy.
And this is my ICAW #5
I used gesso for the circle and squeezy paint for the heart cheeks. Then I tried out my punchenella with paint. And the stamp is one I got at a thrift store for $1.
We went to the county fair today with the grandkiddies and had a lot of fun, but came home HOT and tired.

mystery swap #4

here's what I got from Amy @ papertrailsleaver
Cool, huh? This is the first thing I made:
I've never made a collage tag before. Isn't that leaf doily great? And I love the photo. Everything on the tag is from Amy, except the tag itself. Now I need to decide what to do next!

Love bright colors!

Image from the graphics fairy. Used a large paper doily for a stencil and a color wash spray.
Another bathing beauty from digitalcollagesheets.com The fish is from the graphic fairy (Ithink)
I love the ocean and would LOVE to live near it someday...
It's been SO hot, not as much art being done. I can't wait until Fall!
I got my mystery swap envelope and it's filled with autumn stuff- can't wait to start using it!

ICAW # 4

I'm having a lot of fun with these cards! Every once in a while a funny saying will pop in my head to go with them- always good for a chuckle.

Another pg from my journal- love these new stencils!
Art is on hold until after our yard sale this weekend since my tables are outside and full of stuff!

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

The bathing beauties are from digitalcollages.com- they're so cute!
I stenciled the sun in a glitter paint- maybe you can see better in the next pic
I guess I went too far into the purple so the sun doesn't show up as well as I'd like..
I'm having a lot of fun with this journal- I glued 2 pages together throughout the whole book. You can kind of see the pages are a little bubbly, but they still work. I also didn't gesso the pages first since I liked the feel of the paper.
The weather has cooled off some here and it makes me want to work in the studio more. I sent off my mystery envelope swap to my partner for this time Amy@papertrailsleaver. Can't wait to get my envelope! Any swaps or challenges that you all enjoy?

week 3 ICAW

I love Laurel Burch art and I found this stamp at a thrift store! The quote is from the movie Babe.
This is the cover of my ICAW book.
The squiggly line at the top is some tape rub on- I haven't used that before. Kind of interesting...

New journal pgs

I really need a camera of my own... Anyway here are some new pgs I've worked on.
I've kind of decided to put some kind of vintage image on each page-s ort of a starter point.
I used some really old mulberry paper on this one- I mean like 15 years old!
These pages aren't finished of course, but for now I'm concentrating on painting the pages and putting the starting image- a new way of working for me. I still haven't sewn my journal together :( It's on my to do list. I haven't had as much time to art journal lately since we're getting ready for our yard sale this weekend. I hope the weather is good :)

ICAW 2

This is my new index card-
And this is another stencil-
I'm still not real great at stenciling with paint- I always seem to glob a bit :(
Oh well, life is a learning process right?
Thank you for all the nice anniversary wishes- we had a nice day.
Anybody trying out a DIY Smash journal? I'm thinking about making one. I saw a video by journal artista and it looked like a cool way to use up old supplies.

ICAW?

I didn't get in on the index card a day, so I thought I'd just try one per week for fun :)
Here's my first

Here's another pg trying out stencils.

On this one I used a large stamp I got at a thrift store and I used it while the paint was wet- kind of interesting,

Lots of pictures!

I'm participating in the mystery envelope swap over at creationsbytee.blogspot.com
And this is what I got from Kim at the gypsy angel! Wow lots and lots of stuff!!!
These are some of the things I made with all these goodies (thanx Kim :)

I think the green piece  that I cut into a heart is encaustic paper.
This one I used the cute stamp of a bird and sing. The bottle cap was in the pkg and I put alchol ink on it. The piece of music is mine.
I put a little glitter glue on the snow- isn't the string cool? She sent me a bunch!
All the paper is from Kim and the little chickie stamp is soo cute! I just added the brads at the top and the be real stamp.
This one is my favorite- I love that photo! I think I'm going to use it as an anniversary card.
You can see the stained doily and the little piece of lace. The heart was a buttton and I cut the shank off the back. I still have lots of stuff to use in my art journaling too. Thanks again Kim!!
Go on over to The Altered Paper (creationsbytee.blogspot.com) and join the fun- swap #4 is coming up :)

trying out new stencils

On this one I tried out my new stencil- zinnia- and used a spray ink. Then I tried out the
harlequin stencil using distress ink and the blender tool also on the dots.
On this one I used a mum stencil with spray in and then I tried out the Ranger pearl mist- kind of hard to see the shimmer, but it's neat.
This I got at Walmart for less than a dollar! I'm going to try carving a stamp and it may even be thick enough to carve one on each side.
